Prosecute the Rogues
The Obama Administration foreign policy is virtually indistinguishable from that of George W. Bush, whose heavy handed form of internationalism combined with regime change has brought calamity to the United States. Presumably Obama and Rice were able to congratulate each other on their ability to unite Republicans and Democrats in supporting a seamless vision of the world as it might be if only those poor heathen devils out there would learn to behave. Andrew Bacevich has described the foreign policy consensus that has ruled the United States since the Second World War as a sacred trinity consisting of global military presence, a military capable of projecting power worldwide, and a willingness to intervene anywhere in the world for any reason secure in the belief that Washington is a force for good. These policies have been supported by both major parties and have now led to something approaching war without end as new adversaries are identified and confronted.
Standard stuff for peaceniks and libertarians. As is the call for "Nuremberg" type trials. But it has to be said over and over again til we make it happen. More excerpts from Giraldi.
Those who expect the government to serve the people should be particularly appalled at the revolving door of self-serving statists who proliferate throughout the system, men and women who have never had a genuine job in their lives but who scurry off to their law firms, lobbying offices, think tanks, and universities before returning at a higher level to the government bringing ruin with them.
Seven years ago a major war crime was committed when Iraq was attacked yet no one has been punished, nor has anyone even been seriously challenged on the steps taken that led up to war. The United States bombed and then invaded a country that posed no threat and that had no ability in any event to strike against Americans or American targets. In 1946, the judges at the Nuremberg Trials called the initiation of a war of aggression the ultimate war crime because it inevitably unleashed so many other evils. Ten leading Nazis were executed at Nuremberg and ninety-three Japanese officials at similar trials staged in Asia. In spite of the fact that a majority of Republicans now considers the Iraq war to have been a "mistake," a view certainly shared by most Democrats and the public, no American government official was even fired as a consequence.
If one were to ask who were the potential war criminals in the Bush Administration the list would certainly include Rice. Giraldi also lists and describes the crimes and comfy rewards for the crimes of: CIA Director George Tenet, Vice President Dick Cheney, his colleague Scooter Libby, Bush Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz and his chief deputy at the Pentagon- Doug Feith,
No one is punished or even tarnished by his or her role. On the contrary, all are, in fact, richly rewarded for their presumed dedication to their country. One can well presume that the old saw about every good deed being rewarded has been turned on its head in the US government, with only those guilty of crimes against humanity being considered for promotion. Can there be any wonder why ambitious people who are ethically challenged flock to start wars and torture for Uncle Sam? They know they will never be held accountable for anything they do and will reap the financial rewards that they think they deserve. Until that culture is eradicated by something like a Nuremberg trial demonstrating that no one is above the law the United States will continue to be a place that the rest of the world quite rightly regards as preaching respect for rules and values while rewarding just the opposite.

Supremacism and the Fleecing Domestic War Party

Is it just the fact that the United States government - an organization using "legalized violence" - has permitted the stray psychopath to have this much power? Or have "Americans" (citizens of the United States particularly) really adopted such Supremacist beliefs about their own moral and political righteousness, that they can justify killing even those who cower before it? Even those whose governments actively cooperate with it, as in Afghanistan and Pakistan?
After all, American children still assume they are the best academically in the world - even though they rank academically even after some "second world" nations. "We're number one and we'll kick your butt to prove it!" - as long as China and the Saudi princes keep lending us the money to do it? (And let's not forget the millions of defacto white christian supremacists, many of whom see joining the world's greatest military as their god-commanded patriotic duty.)
A couple interesting Antiwar.com articles on the above in the last couple days.
In "Tea Party vs. War Party?" Pat Buchanan writes:
The neocons are nervous the Tea Party may not sign up to soldier on for the empire. Writing in the Washington Post, Danielle Pletka and Thomas Donnelly of AEI have sniffed out the unmistakable scent of "isolationism" among Tea Party favorites.
They are warning that the old right and Tea Party might unite in a "combination of Ebenezer Scrooge and George McGovern, withdrawing from the world to a countinghouse America."
Sorry, but the old neocon name-calling won’t cut it this time.
After Iraq and Afghanistan, the American people are not going to give the establishment and War Party a free hand in foreign policy. Every patriot will do what is necessary and pay what is needed to defend his country. But national security is one thing, empire security another.
And Antiwar.com links to a British article "Be very afraid – we are being fleeced by purveyors of fear" which makes the excellent point:
In the mid-1970s, the Provisional IRA staged some 50 explosions in London, subjecting the city to far greater mayhem than today. Somehow we survived without the gargantuan counter-terror apparatus in place today. The bombing campaign came nowhere near toppling the British government or infringing the liberty of the state. The chief threat to that freedom today comes not from terrorists but from the government's response to them.
Britain doesn't have as big a military to fleece as the United States, so their military-industrial elite has to make due with selling Britain the most surveillance cameras per capita on the planet. In this country, of course, these fleecers screaming "terrorism" have managed to gouge a couple trillion dollars out of taxpayers - in addition to money spent on the actual wars - since the September 11 attacks. (Now remind who it was who planted the bombs in the Twin Towers to make sure they fell after pissed off Arabs rammed planes into them? Why pass up an opportunity to make a couple billion in insurance money from a hot tip from an old friend who's buddies with explosive experts.)

At least the brouhaha about the "9/11 Mosque" has subsided somewhat. Maybe someone has realized that provoking Americans to hate one minority for its religion could spill over to re-awakening old hatreds against those who alleged "killed Christ," especially should Israel pre-emptively attack Iran, drive up the price of gasoline to $10 a gallon and lead to 30% unemployment.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is: supremacism and violence are bad. Being smart enough to know which corporate state bastards are fleecing you by encouraging you to engage in them is good. I hope the Tea Party (and those "libertarians" who seem to like war) are listening.

Raiding Americans to Protect Israel
As usual Justin Raimondo is very insightful, including amusing histories of the Obama-supporting lefty groups under attack. In "The Obama Boomerang" he writes in part: Since the PATRIOT Act and subsequent legislation gave the feds a blank check to spy on us, law enforcement agencies have taken the opportunity to cast as wide a net as possible over the legal activities of American citizens whose only goal is to change American foreign policy. Under Bush, and now under Obama, the government is engaged in a systematic campaign to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat the anti-interventionist movement on the home front, all under the rubric of “anti-terrorism.”
Raiding domestic groups who may have had some minor connection to groups the U.S. government - and the powerful interest groups that support it - deem terrorist is just practice for eventually raiding domestic groups that may have even the most innocent association with people who shoot their mouths off about doing violence someday, or break a window or two today. A fact Tea Party members, with all their gun loving friends, should worry about under Obama.
Meanwhile practicing on all the individuals and groups who support ending the blockade of Gaza, ending Israel's murderous military attacks on Muslims and Arabs, ending the U.S. government's middle east wars to protect Israel, including the coming war on Iran, is just peachy keen with Obama, the U.S. Congress and the Supreme Court. Well, at least the latter doesn't have any of those crazy Apocalyptic Protestants on it. (Or any Protestants at all for that matter.)
Below is an incredible assemblage of cartoons criticizing Obama and Israel for its policies against the Palestinians. I'm sure one of these days they'll haul me away just for embedding it here, after all it's got all sorts of images sympathetic to people deemed terrorists by the U.S. government.
Update: George Washington said it best in 1796 in his FAREWELL ADDRESS
....a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation of privileges denied to others, which is apt doubly to injure the nation making the concessions by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained, and by exciting jealousy, ill will, and a disposition to retaliate in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld; and it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation) facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country without odium, sometimes even with popularity, gilding with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation....
Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government.
But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial, else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defense against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation and excessive dislike of another cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people to surrender their interests.

There goes the sun...
Of course, we are on the verge of an equinox, those two days of the year when the day light and night time hours are both exactly 12 hours. After a spring and summer hot enough to convince you global warming is here, it's good to feel the cool and see the sun go down early. Of course I'll be crying into my hot cocoa if we have another winter of repeated massive snow falls like last winters'. Geez, I haven't even put together my video of that yet. (Mostly of the dog jumping in and out of snow drifts chasing her ball or playing queen of the snow mountain.)
I used to get depressed after Christmas thinking how much longer winter would last. Until I was around 22 - forty years ago, gee willikers --and learned about the solstices and that the days actually started getting longer after the winter solstice. And I discovered the then still scandalous knowlege that in fact that's what all the celebration was about in the first place!
Equinoxes don't seem like something to get quite as excited about. But the truth is that many cultures celebrate both, as well as the midpoints between them. (That's what Halloween is.) I'm all for creative rituals and celebrations around such natural events - as opposed to the politicized patriarchal celebrations based on stories and myths whose purpose is to create and maintain male privilege, dominance and supremacy, while keeping the captive females subservient. Yup, burning - or stoning - witches who celebrate those natural turning points has long been a patriarchal vice. And still ongoing in some religiously backward nations worldwide. Sigh...

They all died for lies...
Today the media relishes giving publicity to the propaganda attacks on the mosque and community center being built two blocks from "ground zero." And it keeps featuring and covering the antics of a ridiculous publicity-seeking fundamentalist minister and his plan to burn a Koran on September 11th. The hatred against Muslims, and much of the media coverage, is instigated by Israel supporters who want to keep all that stolen Arab land, Republicans who would rather get elected on bigotry against Muslims and Latino immigrants than promises to cut back out of control government, neoconservatives who want to rule America and the world and make us all their stupid dupes, and fundamentalists eager to have Jesus come back and kill everyone who doesn't convert to their version of Christianity. They all need Americans to hate Muslims to justify their own evil agendas. People who hate are more easily manipulated than those who do not.
What more needs to be said? Here's the lyrics to one song, yet unproduced, about the misuse of the September 11th attacks, followed by my produced music video I DIED FOR A LIE. It is dedicated to the American soldiers killed in Afghanistan for the lie that the Taliban wouldn't cooperate in catching Bin Laden and in Iraq for the lie that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and a means to get them to the United States.
"They Said I love You" - song lyrics
It was on a bright September day
When any kind of harm seemed far away
When suddenly came horror from the sky
With little time to think or wonder why
Three thousand souls were taken.
But those who truly knew the end was near,
And called outside to those they held so dear,
Did they speak of hatred and revenge
And did they say America avenge,
No, they said I love you.
But love was just the last thing on the minds
of those who saw an opportunity to find,
A way to kill and loot and sack,
To scream of evil and attack,
And show they’re above you.
And then they carried out their wicked plans,
With weapons that are cruelest among mans,
Two countries lay in ruins, and still they try
To spread their dirty wars with dirty lies
And they think they’ve fooled you.
But those whose deaths were the excuse,
For all the murder and abuse
Did they speak of hatred and revenge
And did they say America avenge,
No, they said I love you.
No, they said I love you.
No, they said I love you.

Dog Killing Bastards Terrorize Americans
I remember when my a dog lover friend of mine and I went to see one of the Waco movies. When they showed the bodies of the six dead dogs in the yard, he had a screaming fit, yelling "Dog killers! Dog killers!" Americans do love their pups!

Gen. Petreaus Mass Killings & 2012 Election
The larger lesson of transcendence of the false icons of God and State is expressed in my 1977 song "Flowers and Stones" which contrasts 3rd chakra power and control issues to higher chakra creativity, love and higher consciousness.

Not A Victory - Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran
And it's not over yet. Ariel Sharon said "Iran's next" way back in 2002 and the neocons and Israel have been pushing for the United States to attack it ever since. The scares come and the scares go - and back they come again. Now the U.S. congress is backing such an attack and Obama hardly resists it. He - or his handler Rahm Emanuel - may see it as a way to distract people from economic troubles and press down the government boot even harder. I wrote my song "Not A Victory" in 1999 as a march tune for the "Not a Victory" parade peace activists in Washington DC held after the end of the 1999 US/NATO attacks on Serbia. I proposed the title of the parade which then inspired the song.

Wayne Root: "Shut up and take Jewish Voter$ Money"

Of course, Root has earned his "shut up," having declared on his FaceBook page (this link for "friends") the following four messages in a row to Libertarian Party co-founder David Nolan telling libertarians to stop criticizing Israel because Jewish voters contribute half the money to Demopublicans and the Libertarian Party will never get anywhere unless it kisses their butts. Talk about ethnocentric special interest pleading. Please go back to the Republicans, Wayne boy.
Wayne Allyn Root
David...you're small theoretical universe of hundreds of people ...90% of whom includes Libertarians...is hardly a scientific model. How about FACTS? Do they matter to Libertarians? Here are real scientific numbers...in the 2004 Presidential election over 60% of all monies donated to the Democratic Party were donated by Jewish voters. And here's the truly interesting and surprising number...over 40% of all the monies donated that same year to the GOP was from Jewish voters.
Add it up David...that means over 50% of all political donations in the United States comes from Jews. 50% of every dollar given to political candidates. So perhaps the fact that the few hundred people you've spoken to don't mention Israel means absolutely nothing. The biggest donors in American politics...most of whom are either Jewish or Christian believe very strongly in America supporting Israel. I wonder...maybe...just maybe...if this one issue thats so important to pretty much every big contributor in all of American politics...might be THE disconnect that has resulted in 39 years of futility...and almost zero campaign contributions from big donors to the LP? Maybe theres a disconnect there as big as the Grand Canyon. Maybe.

Wayne Allyn Root
Now let's bring it home in a more personal and scientific way...while LP candidates can't raise any serious money for races like Congress or Senate or Governor...while it's hard to raise even $100 as a Libertarian candidate...I just raised $25,000 in 2 weeks for an intra-party race (Chair) that no one outside the LP cares about. And all of my donors wrote $1000, $2500 and $5000 checks. All were business owners...and every one of them considers Israel a very important issue. Understanding the power of my fundraising ability and my highly unusual success in getting donors to write big checks for the LP...perhaps Libertarians should step back...listen...and learn a valuable lesson. The LP has made a big mistake and miscalculation on this issue for 39 years. Is it the most important issue? Absolutely not. It's not even in my Top 10. But it is a very important issue to the biggest donors in American politics. And it is certainly a DISASTER to say negative, vicious, derogatory things about our ally Israel.
June 12 (2010) Wayne Root 12:53 am
Wayne Allyn Root
Interestingly, I do not ask Libertarians to love Israel...or support Israel...I ask them to stop making outrageous statements that denigrate Israel for defending herself...and stop making supportive statements about terrorist organizations like Hamas ...and stop showing propaganda videos on Libertarian's Facebook page that are created by terrorists that paint Israel as the devil. If you ever want to win elections or raise money from mainstream patriotic Americans this has to stop. Public perception is 99% of politics...and Libertarians are painting a horrible public perception...and showing a terrible lack of judgment.
June 12 (2010) 12:58 AM
Wayne Allyn Root
Lastly David...I'm interested how much money you raise for your U.S. Senate run versus John McCain? My guess is the hundreds of people you meet at events in Arizona that share a lack of interest in Israel...will collectively donate about $2.50. Meanwhile John McCain and his Democratic opponent will each raise $1,000,000 at one single fundraiser dinner in Scottsdale from donors who all care VERY much about Israel. Perhaps the LP has lacked judgment on this issue for 39 years. Unfortunately thats not all the LP has lacked...we've lacked MONEY. No coincidence.

UPDATE - David Nolan's Resolution before the Libertarian National Committee:RESOLUTION CLARIFYING THE ROLE OF LNC MEMBERS
IN THEIR ROLE AS REPRESENTATIVES TO THE PUBLIC
WHEREAS members of the Libertarian National Committee are viewed by the voting public as representatives of the Libertarian Party, its principles, and its policy stands, and
WHEREAS the principles and policy stands of the Libertarian Party are clearly spelled out in our national platform,
THEREFORE the Libertarian National Committee hereby instructs its members to adhere as closely as possible to the national platform when stating “the Libertarian position” on issues - especially when being interviewed by news media, civic groups, and others who have the ability to influence public opinion. LNC members should always clearly distinguish between their own personal views and the Libertarian Party's stands whenever the two are not congruent.
